Well this year has already started interesting. My art is really selling good and it's getting hard for me to keep up with all the projects I want to do. Even though I have made some goals in some of my last post, I probably won't get to draw all the projects I've been wanting to do.
Decisions, decisions...It's been hard for me to set some personal art goals for my business. I have to sometimes draw what customers want to buy to make a good living. Everything I make goes directly back into my business to help make it grow. My mom and dad own there own logging business and they told me this is how it is in the beginning. Boy, are they so right!
My studio is the smallest room in my house and it's really becoming crowded. I am unable to store my originals and most of my prints in it because of lack of room. And for it being such a small space I always seem to loose something when I'm working on my art. I can't work on any polymer dolls, watercolor paintings, and mat artwork because I don't have the room for any tables. Storage space is awful in my little room. I have no room to put everything. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for my tiny room, but if I would ever have another baby, I wouldn't have nowhere for my studio to be.
So my husband, Roy and I have come to the conclusion that it's time to build a art studio onto our home. Luckily for us we have a huge carport that was built onto the house when our house was first built. So that will save us from having a roof built. It's 12 foot by 24 foot. This is something that I'm working to pay for myself. I told my husband I want to save the money on my own out of my business to build it. Right now I'm saving money to buy windows and doors. There is a town about 35 miles away that has a store where you can get really nice windows and doors dirt cheap. You have to have a preacher refer you to this store + volunteer so many hours at the store. Which is no problem for me, because my brother is a preacher. Next I will begin to save for building materials to start the out side of the house. I will keep posting updates on progress of this big project, which I know will be a long time before finished.
So in conclusion, project wise (for this year), I'm not sure what personal art projects I will be getting finished. I have to draw what will sell the best, so I can get my studio built. As far as my new products go I will try to get some of those released as soon as I have time. I also have to be getting some fine art finished for Stone wall Jackson jubilee. I guess you could say this is my business goals for this year... My personal goal for this year is to try and be at peace and to get closer to the lord :)
