A New Mermaid

I haven't been feeling very well the last two days. So yesterday I decided to stop all my auctions before anyone had the chance to bid, so I could get some rest. As some of you may know my husband is a hard working coal miner. He got the weekend off and he is helping out around the house, since I am feeling a little under the weather.

Eve & The Tree of Knowledge

This is my latest piece, "Eve & The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil". I decided to start my women of the bible series the other day. This idea just came to me out of the blue. Eve to me represents our human and carnal side. She acted in her flesh when she ate of the forbidden fruit of the Tree of knowledge. This piece represents death. I chose cool colors to keep it more on the darker side for sin. I will also be doing another piece to go with this one called Mary & The Tree of Life. I will draw a representation of Mary (mother of Jesus) holding the tree of life. I will tell more about this piece after I complete it.

Latest Projects

I've been working on a large Victorian angel piece, but have decided to back away from it, because I have been getting frustrated with how it is turning out. I will start it over again sometime later on this year. I have been ordering materials for making ooak mermaid, fairy and angel dolls. I'm going to start making dolls when I'm not working on artwork. I have already made a few & I just love it. I will be continuing to draw ACEOs to put on eBay. I want to get more larger pieces completed for my galleries on my site that don't have any art in them.

Website Stuff

If you haven't already notice check out my site www.hollydurrart.com . It has a new look. I decided to do this because It was hard to manage the graphics. I have been thinking about creating a archive section to my site. As you noticed my style has been changing with my fantasy work. I want to eventually move all my work done from 2005 and under over to an archive section, but I need to get more work completed before I do this. Well this is all for now : )
