I know it's been ages since I posted on here, but I decided to try and do some fine art. I want to get juried into some local shows and I don't think I can get into shows without the help of my fine art. Besides I used to offer both at shows and there was customers who didn't like the fantasy as well as customers who only like fantasy. So I will have the best of both worlds :)

Important News

Some events have taken place since I last posted, that will effect my time I have to work on my art. Though it's not set in stone, me & my family is moving out of our home in a couple of months. We are moving into a trailer so we can work on our house and put it up for sell. We will be very busy from here on out. I'm not going to work on any new fine art until the end of April, because ebay is changing there seller fees. I will be able to list 50 items for free. This will be really good for me since I'm just starting back into fine art, it will pobably take awhile to build a good customer base.

It's been ages since I last posted a new painting on this blog. Well I'm back and I've decided to start pursuing fine art again. As you can see there are pages added to the top now. I'm going to turn this into my fine art website. For you all that don't know me, I'm normally a fantasy artist, but years ago I used to do a lot of fine art. Well I'm going to do both and rotate back and forth. I love doing both and I have a lot of collectors of my fantasy, so those of you that collect my fantasy, don't worry I'm still continuing on, it's just that I want to use my whole talent to it's best and fullest potential.

I decided to list my Kiwi painting on ebay. It ends today. I forgot to mention it here. I've been so busy lately, I've only been keeping up with the most important stuff.

I would really like to get back into fine art again. Probably after I get some important projects out of the way, I'll get back into it.

Shutting Down my fine art website.

I've decided to shut down my fine art site, because it doesn't get any traffic. All my fine art will be available on my regular website, that is when I make my major update. I don't know if I will be able to offer prints. I still haven't got the chance to go through my prints.

Damaged Prints

I went to mat and frame one of the "Hands of the Fiddler" prints today and noticed it had a water stain across it. So I've decided to temporarily remove purchase buttons for the Hands and Harvest prints. I think all the prints were damaged by water, no more will be available as limited editions in the huge size, until I get the chance to examine all of them.

Weekly Projects

I realize that I don't post and keep up with my fine art as I should. Well I can't say it will change to much, but I thought a little about my fine art today. I want to draw some people. I have a particular subject of interest and that is old folks. The reason why is I love detail and old people make the beautiful portraits in my opinion. I find beauty in rankles and age spots.

I know I will draw more still life. And by the way Roy found some of my missing pastelbord. So I can draw more on it. I don't plan to though for my next piece. The next one will be on black stonehenge paper. Maybe I should work on one a week for Jackson's Mill. This will help me with balance with the fantasy art. You never know it might inspire me to try something different with fantasy.

Where to sell fine art

My Kiwi drawing didn't sell on ebay, but that's ok. I will save the fine art that doesn't sell and take it to my Jackson's Mill Show this fall. This will help with having some originals ready for collectors at that show. I'm trying to make up a work schedule for the weeks ahead. It's hard to plan ahead. I need to squeeze in some more fine art time.

I meant to draw a still life this week, but ran into some problems with one of my aceo's and other projects this week. I'm not sure if I will get to work on art today. Roy has tonight and tomorrow night off. We are planning to go visit my neighbor at the hospital. She had a terrible time in delivery of her baby. She died once and the doctors were able to revive her. It's a long story. She's been in the hospital for about 3 weeks. Roy and I have been praying for her.

Anyhow, I really like the pastel board and want to experiment more on it. I have two more samples of it, green (which I lost in the move) and white (which I hate working on any white surface). I might not get to experiment with any of it again until I find the missing green one or buy some. Until then I will probably work on my all time favorite, black stonehenge paper.

Kiwi Still Life

I just finished this drawing of Kiwi. The reference is from wetcanvas.com, photographed by member, Blu_ize.

This is the first time I ever worked on Pastelbord with Prismacolor Colored Pencils. It took awhile at first to figure out how I should go about layering my colors. I started out with light pressure, but after awhile I felt like I wasn't getting anywhere so I applied more pressure. It slowly started to come together. It's so different working on a texture hard surface. I'm so used to a soft smooth surface. This was more of a challenge for me. I like this surface and will get into doing more art with it. I added acrylic highlights to give it more of a wet look. I read somewhere you can seal it with a varnish.

Well I haven't updated this blog in awhile. So here's the latest news;

My husband and I are in the middle of construction on my art studio. We are installing the drop ceiling this weekend.

It will probably be another 2 to 3 weeks before I'm able to work on art again (I'm hoping).

I'm looking forward to drawing some fruit and other still life art.

Forgetful Me

I kinda forgot about this blog. I know I was supposed to be working on art, but a lot of things have went on. Stress from it all, I had to slow down. I'm feeling a lot better, but not wanting to work on very much art wise. I probably won't start back up until I get my studio built. Yippie Skippie for that! Can't wait! I'm wanted my very own space forever. It's not fun not having nowhere to create art, having to draw where ever you plant your butt.

Lost and Found

While sorting through my bank statements the other day I came across a 5x7 sheet of black stonehenge paper. I about fell over. How did that get stuck in there? AH I remember now! Anyhow I can start a fine art piece any time. I might start today it all depends. My black stonehenge paper I ordered won't be here until the 4th. So at least I have a piece if I want to start.

Well I thought I would go ahead and order some black stonehenge paper. I want to start doing some fine art again, and I prefer to work on a very dark surface. I know what I want to draw first. Can't wait to get the paper. I Can't wait to start. I really miss drawing still life.

Art Stuff

Ok I'm a bit slow to post on this blog. Sometimes forgetful of it.

It will be a little while before I start any fine art again. I've actually been craving to draw a larger piece. I got this really cool copyright free reference from wetcanvas. It has lots of detail and it is a perfect setting to work on black stonehenge paper.

I really wish my studio was completed, I thought I was going to get it finished this year, but some financial circumstances have arose and I will need the money for that. I'm not upset about it. Since the is door replaced, I noticed my basement is a lot warmer and it doesn't take long for my heater to warm the basement.

I finished my latest still life. I decided to do my own set up. I had a old bottle of fingernail polish. I thought it would be a neat subject to draw. I don't know why all these scans have been looking awful?! It really does look so much better in person.

I've been busy working on my new still life piece on lighter paper. This is the first time I've worked on light paper doing fine art. I take that back I do remember once in high school trying to draw a still life on white paper and not liking it. I really like how it is turning out, but the scan looks awful.

I know I really need to get my fine art site fixed and open it back up. It's just getting the time. I've worked my tale off on my fantasy site getting it ready for Christmas. I've also been busy updating a site for a friend. I'll get around to this site eventually. I think I'm going to try and get some art finished before working on it. I'm burnt out from updating sites.

Because people can't ASK for permission they just take, I'm forced to try to protect my work from art theft and bandwidth theft. It's a shame I will have to spend a lot of hours fixing this mess instead of creating art, but this is the way of a artist life. :P

Found some Reference Material

I found some interesting pictures today, of door handles and a door with a lock to draw. There copyright free. I'm wanting to draw door knobs and doors, windows, and keys and do them as kind of a series together. I'm also wanting to draw a coffee and coffee bean series. and another thing I'm intersted in drawing is antiques. I really would love to draw all sorts of antiques, but I don't have a lot of antiques, mostly plates and brass figurines. It's kinda strange the subjects I feel like drawing. I feel like these pieces will be more manly, but I'm drawn to this type of fine art. Flowers are o.k. and I'm sure I will get around to it eventually, but for now I just feel like doing rustic styles of work.

I've decided not to mess with finding sites to link with. It takes many hours of work and I just don't have a lot of time. I'm going to try and focus on getting art finished.

Speaking of art I wanted to draw a door knob or a door with chipped paint. I can't find any copyright free photos, so I will probably end up buying a old door knob sometime and setting up a still life of it. :P Oh well I'll just find something else to draw.

Changes to this Blog

This blog used to be for my fantasy art, but I moved that one onto my website I've decided that I'm going to start this one for fine art only. I will be doing mostly "A painting a Day" type of art here. The originals will be available for sell on my website. I will post a link to the originals from this blog. The daily paintings will range from $100.00 to $500.00 depending on detail. Most will be at $100.00. It will be a while before I start fine art again, because I have a baby and I'm in the process of having my studio built. So I only have a limited amount of time to work on art, and I mostly due fantasy art.
